Role Purpose
A GKN Driveline Advanced apprenticeship will give you the knowledge and practical skills you will require to join our team of highly skilled employees ranging from Maintenance Technicians to Skilled Engineers, helping to build the world leading supplier of automotive driveline systems & solutions.

About our Apprenticeship Scheme:

We offer a 4 year Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme where:

The first year will be spent at the college where apprentices will learn key craft and engineering skills.

The second year apprentices will undergo a structured training rotation programme within the business, while also continuing day-release training at college.

Apprentices will be working on real live automotive components and learning from our skilled automotive operators. Our training team will still be there to support with regular reviews to ensure apprentices are always on track with development.

Third and final year will be based in the target areas as a member of the manufacturing team. During this time agreed studies will be finalized in preparation to moving onto newer and greater challenges.

Academic Program Structure

Year 1

Basic Engineering Training at Level 2. This will include Hand Fitting, Turning and Milling CNC Machining, Electrical and Electronic PEO’s. The overall training will consist of practical “hands on” engineering/manufacturing skills and the first year of the level 3 BTEC Diploma will be studied on one of the days.

Year 2

BTEC Level 3 Diploma (day release) whilst also working towards NVQ Extended Diploma

Year 3

NVQ Extended Diploma

Entry Requirements

For advanced apprenticeships the minimum entry requirements are ideally five GCSE's grade A* - C or equivalent. These must include:

Maths
English Language
Science

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
No prerequisite experience required but a demonstrable interest in engineering through school or hobby interests.
To be I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft “Word”, “Excel” or equivalent software.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately
Highly motivated
Aptitude for practical engineering skills
To work with efficiency, accuracy and to be able to meet deadlines.
To be able to prioritise workload and work under own initiative.
High level of flexibility and dependability.
