Production Planner

Role Purpose
The Production Planner is a key team member primarily responsible for effective scheduling more than 30 production lines in a high-volume Tier-1 Automotive Manufacturing facility. The Production Planners are responsible for effective WIP and Finished Goods inventory management in support of US CVJ manufacturing facilities.

This position focuses on effective production planning throughout an internal GKN supply and external supplier network. The successful candidate must ensure appropriate use of system tools and constantly drive accuracy in planning data.

Key Responsibilities
Support 90-day MPS plan through release of daily/weekly build schedules to supporting facilities
Develop build schedules for assigned OEM lines
Serve and the key customer plant contact
Establish kanban card requirements for finished assemblies and major components.
Ensure interval calculations are maintained.
Prepare truck schedules to meet customer demand
Coordinate prototype, PSW builds and service builds
Ensure manufactured component availability
Prioritize and sequence assembly
Communicate performance measurements for assigned areas (on-time delivery, attainment)Support planning requirements through appropriate MRP review, EDI Releases, ASN management
Participate in plant improvements programs (CI, VMI, eKanban)
Drive KPI improvement (Stock Turns, Premium Freight, Supplier DSA, Customer DSA, Customer Past Due)
Promote the GKN values.
Support the intern/co-op program developing new talent to bring into the organization

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Excellent written, verbal communication and analytical skills
3+ years inventory/production planning experience in a high volume manufacturing environment (preferably automotive)

MRP based planning experience required, EDI Release management preferred
Kanban/pull systems and systems management preferred
Education required: Bachelors degree preferred(Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Operations, Business Administration)
APICS certification preferred
Microsoft Office skills required
Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment
Ability to work and communicate effectively with shop floor personnel
