Team Leader 3rd Shift FOR

Role Purpose
Safety; Supports GKN Policies and Practices:

- Ensure that Safety Issues are resolved and reported accordingly.

Ensures all safety issues are dealt with immediately and Incident / Investigation Reports are completed
Communicate and elevate any safety risk that is observed
Facilitate Maintenance repairs to reduce safety risks
Train and Mentor team members to follow safety behavior guidelines and practices

Quality:Supports GKN Quality Goals:

- Ensure that GKN quality standards are followed by performing training and auditing

Assist team member in troubleshooting quality issues.
Train new associates on Job instructions adherence, gaging and Product Specifications in order to avoid producing non-conforming material.
Coordinate sorting and back flushing non-conforming material.
Contact on site / team facilitator of major non-conformances.
Supports implementation of corrective actions on all quality concerns
Key Responsibilities
Prior to shift start

- Lines/cells Inspection: This may require at least 30 min OT before the shift start.

Visually check cells for Safety Issues, 5S, Scrap, Equipment issues and communicates with prior shift associates.
Check Call-In Lines and other approved communication tools to verify any associate absences

Pass-Down Meetings

-Participate and/or leads pass-down meetings prior to shift start.

Appropriately document any issues from previous 24 hours.
Identify shift priorities and resource constraints. Coordinate resources and daily plan other cell leaders.

Start-Up Meetings

-Leads start-up meetings with Team and staffs department accordingly.

Verifies attendance of team and cell assignments – ensuring critical needs are met and productivity is optimized.
Informs teams of Plant Safety or Quality information, communicates business unit priorities.
Coordinates any planned downtime, parts shortages or changeovers.
Reviews production schedules and with Team
Collects and responds to team feedback or requirements.Notifies Facilitator if cannot resolve.

Shift Point of Contact

- 1st point of contact with cell associates for daily decisions and information

Transfer labor hours in order to optimize productivity.Work within plant guidelines when sending people home.
Coordinates with Quality Department in order to support 1st piece and Lot approval acceptances.
Coordinates with Shipping & Receiving on parts shortages, parts required, status of urgent parts for shipments.
Coordinates PM’s / Projects scheduling to effectively utilize downtime.
Escalates and Calls on-site Shift Facilitator, Team Facilitator, as required y subject urgency
Coordinates with planner on schedule and overtime development

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Skills and Required Training:

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent. Additional education or coursework a plus.
2 years high volume manufacturing experience, preferably at the specific GKN facility
Effective coaching/communication skills
Basic MFG Pro/Scheduling training
Lean Enabler Training
Basic PC skills including Microsoft Applications recommended
Support Team leader monthly meeting in order to continually develop the position and leadership skills
