Data Governance Lead

M&G Investments

London, United Kingdom

We are not your average financial services firm and our unique culture is just one aspect that makes us stand out from the crowd. We offer a supportive environment that encourages innovation and creativity whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle balance. You will be joining one of Europe's leading Investment Management firms where you can expect real responsibility and recognition from day one. We are large enough to offer a wide variety of career opportunities, whist small enough to treat you as an individual and tailor training and development to your specific needs.

M&G's Data Management Team are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance specialist to lead the development of robust data practices and services necessary to deliver high quality and well controlled data for M&G's clients and to support the investment process.

Against the backdrop of delivering new Front Office and Digital technologies, this role will establish and implement market leading capabilities for the effective management of data and mitigation of data risks, through the delivery of data governance.

This will include working within a project environment across two of M&G's significant Change Programmes, along with extensive engagement across business units.

You will be responsible for the following tasks -

Analysing, capturing and gaining cross-business unit agreement for business data definitions and rules, and define data ownership roles for critical data elements.

Establishing and contributing to the delivery of all artefacts, necessitated by the implementation of Digital and new Front Office capabilities which deliver real-time data internally and to clients.

Acting as an advocate for effective data management practices, championing and enforcing adherence within the project environment.

Supporting data owners in their adoption of ownership roles, and in ensuring compliance to policies, standards and best practices.

Collaborating and influencing leadership across business units, introducing data governance principles, and supporting the adoption of the Data Governance Framework.

Working with the project teams and business areas to ensure effective communication plans are in place with regards to the reporting and escalation of the data governance development.

What we are looking for -

You will have experience in a business facing / stakeholder management role and will possess in depth knowledge of Data Governance practices, principles and best practice implementations across the Financial Services industry. In addition you will have extensive experience working in data centric projects. Ideally this will include working within significant change programmes impacting Front Office and the distribution of data to clients. Also, you will have a strong data analysis background and a good understanding of the capabilities which Digital technologies and Big Data can bring to the Financial Services industry, along with the impact of the regulatory landscape. This role also requires excellent stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to influence and secure strong relationships with peers, project teams and senior stakeholders.
