Senior Technical Program Manager

DESCRIPTION

Within Amazon Alexa, the Evi team’s focus is on knowledge. We develop technology that combines natural language understanding, acquiring large volumes of structured knowledge, and machine reasoning to allow our customers to get answers to their questions in the most natural way possible. We play a key role in the development of Alexa; Amazon’s cloud based voice service which delights customers on products such as Echo and Fire TV.

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to join our rapidly expanding group in Cambridge, England and help achieve that goal.

We have strong links with multiple other teams across the Alexa organization. They are all running fast to expand Alexa's capabilities in their areas and you'll be responsible for keeping us ahead of those dependencies. This includes organizing our direct support for those teams and program management within Evi to deliver backend system improvements. Your intense customer focus and technical chops will be invaluable there, letting you see round corners to identify the touchpoints between their roadmaps and our technology before they land. Many of your key stakeholders are based outside the UK. This is fine because your written communication, scalable project management mechanisms, leadership and relationship building skills make it easy for you to bring order across geographies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Significant experience in a technical project management or related role.
· A strong track record of successful project delivery for large, cross-functional projects.
· Batchelor's degree in computer science, related field or equivalent work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience co-ordinating teams across multiple sites and timezones.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization, with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
· Strong organizational skills, successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders, technical program managers, and software development teams.
· Experience in creating and managing complex, cross-team project plans; prior success in driving execution of large-scale project plans with multiple teams in support of business goals.
· Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; strong bias for action.
· Experience working with technical concepts and opportunistic new ideas with technical employees and discussing tradeoffs and realistic outcomes.
· Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; proven ability to drive consensus across stakeholders
