Operations Leadership Roles in the UK

Our overall mission is simple: we want Amazon to be the place where our customers can find, discover and buy anything online. Whatever our customers want, we will find the means to deliver it. With your help, Amazon will continue to enable people to discover new worlds and implement innovation. This is your chance to make history.

Operations is at the heart of Amazon customer experience. Each action we undertake is done on behalf of our customers, as meeting their expectations makes us feel good. The Ops teams in our Fulfilment Centres are responsible for teams controlling the vast range of fast-paced inventory from inbound to outbound and work very hard to ensure that our customers receive what they want, when they want it.

As Amazon Operations continues to grow in the UK, we are looking for top talent to join us and drive our success as well as their own careers. We have immediate opportunities in Manchester and Coalville as well as our other sites around the U.K.

Available roles include:

Senior Operations Manager

Joining us as Senior Operations Manager, it’ll be your responsibility to improve both the performance of the Fulfilment Centre and the experience of our customers. Reporting directly to the General Manager of your site, you’ll provide motivational and inspirational leadership to your team of Operations and Area Managers. As well as owning that they have the support and resources they need, you’ll get the chance to influence the shape of your area by getting involved in site and regional initiatives, such as KAIZEN, that helps streamline and improve operations. It’s a real opportunity to shape your centre and develop solutions that could eventually be rolled out across the entire Amazon network.

Operations Manager

Taking on the critical role of Operations Manager, you’ll be able to make a huge impact on both the performance of your Fulfilment Centre and the experience of our customers. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you’ll be based out in the front-line – motivating our dedicated teams to perform at their best. You’ll understand who’s good at what, anticipate peak periods, resource appropriately and spot emerging talent. In short, you’ll keep everything running smoothly by keeping your teams engaged and ensuring productivity, targets, errors and health and safety are all as they should be. Beyond your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll also get chance to influence the shape of your area by getting involved in site and regional initiatives, such as KAIZEN, that help streamline and improve operations. Plus, you’ll instinctively be on the lookout to see how we can make the customer experience even better.

Area Manager

As Area Manager, you’ll manage day-to-day operations in either our inbound or outbound segments, looking after activities like stowing, picking, packing and shipping. Heading up a large, diverse team, you’ll do what it takes to ensure the centre runs as smoothly as possible – whether that’s maintaining safety standards, running mentoring sessions or analysing our processes. You’ll be responsible for all HR-related activities, as well as doing what you can to create a culture of improvement through KAIZEN and LEAN methodologies. By making it your mission to achieve productivity targets, eliminate errors and deliver excellent service, you’ll help us to improve our offering to the best it can be. It’s a stimulating, fast-paced environment where you can really grow and develop your skills – and you’ll receive great employee benefits, too.

The successful candidate will:
· Be degree qualified in Engineering or a Supply Chain/Logistics/ Manufacturing related discipline or MBA graduate.
· Have knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies
· Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Have previous work experience in a distribution center or warehouse
Previous people management skill or leading diverse teams a plus
