Search Systems Infrastructure Engineer

Amazon.com’s Platform Search organisation is looking for engineers to join our growing team in Dublin. Are you someone who loves to automate due to a dislike for doing tasks more than once, enjoys improving the customer experience and loves troubleshooting complex issues on deep technology stacks? The Platform Search team is responsible for running one of the Amazon's largest Search infrastructures that powers both large scale internal systems as well as part of Amazon’s retail websites.

In this role, responsibilities will include:
· Develop tools to automate manual processes or improve existing automation
· Reliability of the Platform Search service used on multiple internal Amazon sites and parts of our external retail websites
· Tuning the performance of both software and hardware to get the most out of the platform
· Performing deep-dives to troubleshoot system and application issues, and driving root cause resolution as part of a program of Operational Excellence
· Using metrics and data gathering to help your organisation understand both the strengths and weaknesses of the service
· Collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver on business growth initiatives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years of experience in a large scale distributed Linux environment
· 2+ years of developing with languages like Python, Ruby, Perl etc. (Java, C++ etc. work too)
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
· Strong knowledge and experience with Linux
· Knowledge of other technologies (e.g. Apache, DNS, Monitoring, etc.)
· Proven technical troubleshooting experience solving complex problems
· Excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Knowledge of search technologies is a plus (Lucene, Solr etc.)
