DESCRIPTION

This is a Pooling role for the UK Military Engineering Hiring. Following on from applying to this pool a member of the recruitment team may be in contact to discuss your application. Roles are nationwide.

A typical ex-military Technician within Amazon will have an avionics, aircraft, control systems, electrical or mechanical background and often be at least a JNCO / LH rank, or be an advanced generalist technician in their trade. For Senior Service Technician roles we will be looking for candidates who are either NCOs or have regularly stepped up to supervisory roles.

The Senior Service Technician will have significant impact on customer experience. The Senior Service Technician will have the ability to lead other Engineering technicians, design solutions for difficult problems, able to manage outside contractors, be on call for emergencies, ability to handle multiple projects and daily activities, and meet time lines. Develop plans on how to accomplish departmental and distributional goals.

The Senior Service Technician will be responsible for the leadership/development and coaching of the team. Performance Management will be carried out by the Senior Service Technician. To lead the technical team in providing both a reactive and pro-active maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure within the FC. The role has a direct impact on the site, its productivity and operation. If equipment is not available or performs badly it minimizes the capacity and throughput of the site. This role impacts on all operation staff within the FC specifically those using conveyance, sortation or MHE equipment within the warehouse. Controls maintenance activity on shift and therefore the speed with which issues are resolved; this can have a significant service and financial impact during peak times.

Responsibilities will include:
• To provide supervision to Service Technicians
• To develop training plans for facility technicians and Engineering technicians
• To carry out Performance Reviews
• To develop Preventive Maintenance programs
• To install, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials
• Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components-- photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachs, and encoders
• PLC programs, ability to troubleshoot ladder logic (read use for troubleshooting), components (CPU back plains, I/O boards, counters, modules, and devices) and communications modules (Ethernet)
• To repair and maintain Bus Systems for example profibus, asibus
• Ability to provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance
• Ability to prioritize and manage resources under high pressure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

5 GCSE, NVQ3, ONC/D, HNC, C&G 2330, 17th Ed. Apprentice Trained
• Recognized degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field3+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
• Experience of high voltage switching
• Experience in sortation machines and conveyor systems, maintaining/configuring bar code scanners and experience of print and apply machines
• Experience with machines especially packaging machines
• Multi skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
• Able to fault find on electrical/pneumatic systems and motor controllers/inverters
• Read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
• Experience of planned preventative maintenance
• Good communications skills at all levels. BASIC English communication skills (written & verbal).
• Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
• Keeps others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company (Team player).
• Excellent customer facing skills / customer focus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications: HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
• Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and influence others on the team
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload
• Experience of multi-contractor management
• Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
• Leadership experience/aptitude, ability to mentor and develop training plans for other service technicians
• Experience with packaging machines
• Six Sigma qualification
• Experience in a multi-site environment
• Experience in international environment
• Expert level knowledge in OEE and EAM tools.
