Service Technician

The Service Technician will have a direct impact on customer experience and will directly influence the site, its productivity and operation. The role impacts on all operational staff within the FC specifically those using conveyance, sortation or MHE equipment within the warehouse. The Service Technician carries out maintenance activity on shift and can affect how quickly issues are resolved; this can have a significant service and financial impact during peak times. To provide a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled engineering maintenance service to all end users and for operational equipment and facilities infrastructure within the FC. If equipment is not available or performs badly it minimizes the capacity and throughput of the site. Within a typical FC will work on equipment such as: multiple Receive lines, pick towers, tote conveyance, multiple pack lines, automated sorters, hundreds of pack stations, dozens of Applicators and various pick carts, stow carts, Rebin walls etc.

Responsibilities will include:
· To provide a service that ensures all mechanical and electrical equipment is running to its optimum performance and that all departmental SLA’s and KPI’s are met.
· To ensure that work is carried out to the highest standard and quality complies with all Amazon polices and guidelines, specifically Health & Safety policies/guidelines.
· To maximize availability of all mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement and improve equipment efficiencies/cost reductions through Kaizens and other initiatives.
· To carry out modifications and installations when required.
· To liaise with contractors or external suppliers and clearly communicate technical issues and Amazon standards.
· To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
· Repairing and maintaining MHE equipment
· Maintaining and repairing racking and shelving systems
· Repairing and maintaining pneumatic systems
· To provide technical support/input to projects and initiatives.
· To carry out ad-Hoc requests as and when required.
Tracking and storing the department's inventory, including spare parts

· 5 GCSE, NVQ 3, ONC/D. Apprentice Trained
· Recognized qualification from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field3+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
· Experience of high voltage switching
· Experience in sortation machines and conveyor systems, maintaining/configuring bar code scanners and experience of print and apply machines
· Experience with machines especially packaging machines
· Multi skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
· Able to fault find on electrical/pneumatic systems and motor controllers/inverters
· Read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
· Experience of planned preventative maintenance
· Good communications skills at all levels. BASIC English communication skills (written & verbal).
· Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
· Keeps others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company (Team player).
· Excellent customer facing skills / customer focus.
· Able to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
· Willingness to train and learn new skills.
· Ability to work independently
· Ability for Troubleshooting under high pressure is essential
· Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors and vendors

· HNC, HND, C&G 2330, 17th Ed
· Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and influence others on the team
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload
· Experience of multi-contractor management
· Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
· Leadership experience/aptitude, ability to mentor and develop training plans for other service technicians
· Experience with packaging machines
