AWS Security Operations Center (SOC) Shift Leader

1. Are you passionate about Security? AWS Security is looking for an action-oriented individual to oversee daily shift operations within the AWS Security Operations Center (SOC). This individual will work with technicians and other shift leaders to triage, escalate, and manage responses to all events impacting or threatening AWS personnel, property and assets worldwide and report directly to the AWS SOC Manager. The shift leader will be the lead decision maker within the operations center and will help identify, assess and coordinate communication and respond to security related incidents and crisis and also quality check and assist in the programming of access control devices. Shift leaders will also quality check team members work by reviewing metrics, recorded calls, ticketing system coordination, alarm response and device programming.

The AWS SOC Shift Leader will ensure all technicians are aware of and properly adhere to procedures, Service Level Agreements and will lead on-the-job training. Using proprietary and commercially available sources of information and software, the shift leader will monitor risks that could negatively affect AWS sites worldwide including human security threats, weather, natural and manmade disasters, and political unrest. This role will also monitor internal and external systems to identify, assess, and manage communications to team members, regional leaders, affected organizations (external or internal) and stakeholders throughout the incident life-cycle.

The successful candidate must have a proven record of effective leadership capabilities, be innovative and creative when working to solve problems, and demonstrate good judgment while under pressure. They should also be able to operate autonomously, use discretion when dealing with sensitive information, and apply sound business principles and data analysis to identify problems and initiate actions to address them. Along with direct shift responsibilities, the AWS SOC Shift Leader will coordinate and train all team members to ensure the AWS SOC is functionally staffed at all times. The AWS SOC is a 24/7 operation and shift work will be required potentially to include nights and weekends.


· Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject (Communications, Criminal Justice, Political Science, etc.).
· 3+ years of working in a security or emergency operations center
· 2+ years in a leadership role
· 1+ years of experience with access control or physical access management systems (ex: Lenel, Multi-Max, C-Cure, Honeywell, etc.)
· High-level customer service skills as demonstrated by way of previous work history
· Ability to work any shift within the 24/7 operation, including holidays and weekends
· Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company


· Certification in access control or alarm monitoring suite
· Track record of creative problem solving, and the desire to create and build new processes
· Experience maintaining metrics and SLA’S
· Ability to speak a foreign language (Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, etc.)
· Strong time management and multitasking skills as well as attention to detail
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to associates and management across diverse global sites
· Demonstrated working knowledge in Workplace Violence, Crisis Management – Business Continuity / Emergency Response
· Experience in balancing stress & workload to ensure success & continuity of operations.
· Project management skills and ability to demonstrate proficiency at using MS SharePoint, and MS Office software suite
· Willingness to be active in the training, coaching, and development their team
· Ability to deep dive issues and maintain customer focus
