Systems Development Engineer - AWS Database Services

Amazon Web Services is looking for brilliant engineers to join the SimpleDB team for solving hard distributed system problems.The team runs the entire SimpleDB service end to end. The responsibilities of the role will be to contribute in building reliable scalable features. This is a good opportunity to pave the path for a new generation of database systems, to grow as a technology leader, and to work with some really smart people.

· A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
· Solid understanding of the UNIX/Linux/Windows operating system
· Experience with a 24/7 production environment
· 5+ years of overall software development/technical operations experience
· Strong programming experience in Java and Python on a Unix/Linux platform
· A high degree of organization and be very detail-oriented
· Excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills


· Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proven documentation methodology
· Experience in supporting critical software systems in operational environments
· Solid networking knowledge
· Solid understanding of and practical experiences in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
· Experience building REST-ful services using Java (Spring), Python (Flask)
· Experience in production monitoring and metrics reporting
· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
· Experience in business analytics
· Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating
