The AWS Networking organization develops and operates the network platform for all of Amazon, including its e-commerce products and Cloud Computing solutions. Amazon.com is searching for industry-leading Network Development Manager to join our AWS Load Balancing network team. We own the design, capacity management & scaling, availability and operational excellence of the global networks that power Amazon Web Services. We push our networks to their limit; traditional network vendors simply cannot deliver cost effective solutions capable of meeting our requirements for availability, performance or flexibility. In AWS Networking, we invent, design, refine and then we invent again.

Your job is to lead a team of 8+ highly skilled Network Engineers and deliver solutions that are always available, never constrain customers, continually reduce cost and provide low and consistent latency. You will leverage your skills in strategy, network design, project management, recruiting and team development to build a high performing team that delivers an exceptional customer experience. Your work will delight our customers and disrupt the networking industry.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience is mandatory.
· 8+ years of industry experience in a similar environment.
· 3+ years of managing and developing a team.
· Hands-on engineering experience in networking, large-scale distributed systems or a related field.
· Prior ownership of the design and operation of a mission-critical system.
· Load Balancing experience
· In-depth knowledge of and significant experience with major Internet protocols: BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, TCP
· Must be comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
· Experience with scripting and/or coding, preferably in Python, Perl, or Java

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent analytical skills.
· Substantial background building and operating large-scale networks.
· In-depth experience in the application of network design, including knowledge of major protocols, topology design, network hardware, device configuration and traffic engineering.
· Proven track record of success conceptualizing and delivering engineering solutions to customers.
· Hands-on experience with project management, preferably using Agile methodologies.
· Experience building production software applications or solid understanding of software development, distributed systems and systems architecture.
· Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
