About the Business Line Geotechnical
We offer a full range of geotechnical services to clients in both the public and private sectors across Asia. Over 400 professional and technical staff provide one-stop access to services ranging from project management, feasibility studies, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works.

AECOM is currently recruiting for a Junior Technician to join our well established and experienced Ground Engineering team in Chesterfield. This is the perfect opportunity for a recent school leaver who is keen to kick-start their career in a Civil Engineering consultancy design office. The candidate will be working as part of a technician team supporting the Ground Engineering team on various projects for public and private sector clients.

Nationally our Ground Engineering team comprises 190 staff and provides one-stop access to services ranging from project management, feasibility studies, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works. We work for leading UK clients including Highways England, Network Rail, Homes and Communities Agency, Local Authorities, as well as for leading contractors and developers and for overseas clients. AECOM has an impressive portfolio of projects, including a range of major infrastructure projects such as Crossrail, Thames Tideway, HS2, Mersey Gateway, Trafford Park Metrolink, Northern Hub and Hinkley C nuclear power station.

Minimum Requirements
No experience is necessary but the position is ideally suited to school leavers at either GCSE or A-Level standard (or equivalent) who can demonstrate:

Minimum of 3 GCSE’s (or Scottish Standard Grade or Junior Certificate in Ireland) at grade ‘C’ or above, including Mathematics & English
Show an aptitude towards software-based engineering and drawing e.g. Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other similar 3D software
Demonstrate an interest in and a desire to pursue a career in Ground Engineering
Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
Creative, practical, adaptable and enthusiastic
Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organize parts of projects
English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings and reports
