About the Business Line Environment
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary AECOM are looking to recruit a Senior Planning Consultant to join our offices in Edinburgh.

The role would be part of our busy Environment and Planning Business unit, which contains a mix of both EIA and Town Planning professionals. We work across the development sectors delivering projects of varying scale and complexity and have a client base that includes local authorities, government agencies, developers and other private sector clients. The ideal candidate would have an understanding and interest in both planning and EIA.

You will be expected to work closely with environmental and engineering colleagues on a mix of multi-disciplinary and standalone projects, along with planning colleagues in other offices within the UK.

Within the role you will be responsible for;
-Preparing and submitting planning applications, including coordinating multi-disciplinary team across various project types;
-Providing general planning advice to colleagues and clients;
-Undertaking spatial planning work including neighbourhood planning, SEA/SA and Local Plan preparation support;
-Involvement in environmental studies and EIA’s;
-Project management.
-Working in partnership with other members of the Planning/Environment Team, delegating activities to junior staff as applicable;
-Monitoring and managing budgets; and
-Contributing to the preparation of technical proposals, and business development for the team.

Minimum Requirements To be successful in this role we want to hear from candidates with the following;

-Previous relevant experience in a planning role;
-Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute;
-Able to work on own initiative under strict deadlines;
-Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
-Sound knowledge of Scottish Planning policy and legislation;
-An understanding of EIA and environmental processes;
-Client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach with a high level of commitment towards the job;
-A team player with an interest in working within wider project teams; and
-Full current driving license

Preferred Qualifications Previous experience gained within a similar role
RTPI recognised town planning degree
RTPI Chartership
