SP&A Lead

Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the Project Director/Manager as necessary, with a responsibility for delivering projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.
Manage the resourcing and technical delivery and commercial management of the SP&A team.
Business development capabilities – Building and nurturing client relationships; identify and respond to opportunities, prepare and submit proposals in accordance with AECOM procedures.
Develop staff and assist in training and mentoring with a particular focus on assisting staff to gain professional accreditation.
Assist in the development and implementation of the business line strategy.
Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.
Prepare resource and fee forecasts.
Ensure IMS procedures are properly followed for all projects, including Environmental and Health & Safety matters.
Be forward thinking/proactive, anticipating risks (commercial and technical) effectively overseeing this process at Associate Engineer level.
Work with the relevant Project Directors to ensure that the project risk management procedures are applied to all projects.
Interact and collaborate with other business lines on various multi-disciplinary projects or pursuits.
Provide support to junior project managers.
Have appropriate, timely and current project plans for live projects and proposals.
Set up projects on the AECOM system and allocate budgets to work stages.
Assist in preparing project execution plans and conduct financial and technical reviews of projects.
Promote the use of the latest AECOM systems and procedures.
Assist F&A in terms of achieving working capital targets for the business line.
Authorise timesheets and expenses.

A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Traffic and Transport Planning Engineering
Knowledge of the market and potential clients in South Africa and the rest of Africa.
Demonstrate ability to manage and develop productive and engaged teams.
Good experience and knowledge in a number of relevant transport planning and software packages e.g. SIDRA, Vissim, EMME, etc.
Lead/manage technical challenging transport planning projects.
Lead/manage a variety of projects as project leader dealing directly with clients.
Public transport modelling and transport demand modelling experience will be advantageous.
Serve as the Traffic Engineering lead on SANRAL projects.
Suitable experience working within Africa (outside South Africa) will be advantageous.
Exposure to alternative project delivery mechanisms e.g. PPP’s will be advantageous.
