DESCRIPTION

The Metro Fiber Construction Inspector (CI) is responsible for observing and reporting on some of the most technical, cost efficient, and fast paced communication construction project schedules achievable. Amazon Metro Fiber Construction inspector are constantly challenged to drive continuous improvement and deliver the highest quality, most technically efficient connectivity solutions in the world.

As a Metro Fiber CI you will be a part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in fiber construction. Amazon Metro Fiber CI's are always at the forefront of the construction industry in terms of innovation, and maintain a focus to deliver the most innovative products to our customers.

Our networks are industry leading in terms of capacity and cost effectiveness. The Metro Fiber CI is ultimately responsible for the day to day construction oversight, safety adherence and ensuring the quality bar is maintained. The CI will also be utilized as a leader in their specific discipline (construction management, Fiber splicing, OSP Design, ISP Construction or system installation/commissioning) and be responsible as a team member for delivering construction of some of the most complex networks in the world.

· Oversight of construction related activities for new builds or general capital projects. This will include the ownership of quality and safety.
· Ensure the construction standards are followed.
· Develop construction quality standards
· Develop fiber quality standards
· Perform quality audits and ensure issues are remediated before the vendors are released from the project.
· Understand the metro fiber market segments, customer base, and industry verticals.
· Interface with key internal Metro Fiber Deployment Engineers and Metro Fiber Business developer to ensure the correct oversight is provided.
· Interface with data center providers to drive equipment and circuit installations.
· Understand the technical requirements of our engineering teams and ensure the completed project meets these requirements.
· Understand fiber deployment types and insure that diversity requirements that are required are met.
· Deep understanding of the fiber construction process.
· Deep understanding of the fiber splicing
· Able to think out of the box to bring new technologies forward.
· Prepare and provide quality reports on the individual projects.
· Prepare and provide safety reports on the individual projects
· Obtain and update GIS information from the field.
· Review and approval red lines for GIS upload.
· Handle ad-hoc incoming inquiries and problems to ensure the construction programs continue on schedule.
· Maintain a valid drivers license.
· Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
· Ability to work across multiple time zones
· Willing to travel 25-50% of the time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· The right person will be highly technical and analytical, possess 3-5 years of fiber construction management and/or inspection.
· Understand the fiber business and have worked on multiple telecom construction programs.
· Excellent attention to detail is essential.
· Skilled user of Microsoft suite of tools including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.
· Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands to deliver for the customers in a specific time window.
· Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Having strong contacts in fiber, transport and infrastructure markets.
· Good technical understanding of transport technologies (Fiber, DWDM, etc.)
· Has led multiple large network construction programs..
· Ability to speak multiple languages
· Experience with GIS tools.
· International business experience.
· OSHA certified.
