2017 INTERN ALGORITHMS & PROCESSING SPECIALIST - 3 MONTHS

Thales Optronics and Missile Electronics (OME) is part of Thales Land & Air Systems, who supply Electro-Optical equipment and systems to the worldwide defence and aerospace markets. They now have a vacancy for a work placement student for a period of three months during the summer of 2017 at their facility in Glasgow.

Thales OME design and manufacture a diverse range of Electro-Optical products including Thermal Imagers, Laser Rangefinders & Designators, Vehicle Sighting Systems and Submarine Periscopes & Optronics Masts.

The successful candidate would be expected to work in the Algorithms & Processing group exploring how Neural Nets and Artificial Intelligence can be applied to our products.

Key responsibilities
Exploring OpenSource neural net solutions from the likes of Google and MIT
Evaluating neural net performance with visual and thermal imagery
Creating demonstrations of candidate product solutions

Skills, qualifications and experience
The position is open to undergraduates in an engineering related degree
Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu), Python and C/C++ and embedded solutions
Experience with embedded PC’s such as Raspberry Pi is desirable
Experience of using Simulink/MATLAB is desirable
