The Amazon Video Living Room team is responsible for ensuring that the rich and fluid Amazon Video application behaviour is maintained across a wide set of customer devices including Smart TV’s & Games Consoles. This involves working on 3D graphics pipelines, image algorithms, scene graphs, rendering methods, web technologies and integrating with media playback application and player teams in Amazon.
As a Software Development Engineer on the AV Livingroom team you will be responsible for designing, implementing and releasing significant technical projects to customers. Scalability, performance and testability will be the key KPIs in measuring you and your team success. You'll have the freedom (and encouragement) to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers. Whether your background is working within a small start-up or a big multi-national you should have a proven track record of delivering customer impacting solutions. You should be comfortable in a culture of experimentation and innovation, learning new skills as needed.


· Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
· Understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithm design, problem solving, complexity analysis, data structures and object orientated design
· Experience in designing, building and implementing complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
· Fluent with the entire software development life cycle (coding standards, source control, build process, testing and operations).
· Track record of ownership, focus on the end customer and delivering the right results.
· Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
· Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Javascript, Java, Perl, C++, Scala, etc.


· Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
· Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
