Systems Engineer / Product Owner

The context of this role is to drive the balance between agility and the engineering rigour required to meet business goals and constraints – e.g. product security certification and ISO9001 accreditation.

Key Responsibilities and Activities
Rapidly develop strong domain knowledge and credibility in Thales e-Security products and core technical competencies
Work either as a Scrum Product Owner or as a System Engineer supporting a Product Owner
Work with Product Management to establish, agree and control customer needs and priorities
Work with the Technical Directorate to establish and agree strategic technical goals – e.g. re-use and product line goals
Work with Project Management to agree and then control the scope of a project to the defined MVP
Collaborate with Security Engineering to support the creation and agreement of security goals, threats, mitigations, product security requirements and product certification requirements
Collaborate with Scrum Teams and other developers to create Release and Feature specifications based on use cases, requirements, non-functional requirements, epics and user stories as appropriate
Ensure that a valid and cost-effective Solution is created, either up-front in conjunction with Systems and Software Architects, or in an emergent fashion if appropriate
Collaborate with the Scrum Teams to ensure that specifications are implemented and tested effectively and meet the customer and stakeholder needs
Review Verification, Validation and Qualification test cases developed by the Scrum Team and by the System Test and Release Team
Continuously develop your engineering and interpersonal skills and capabilities
Support the development and deployment of effective and pragmatic processes and working practices meeting agreed business goals – e.g. ISO9001 accreditation

Essential Skills
Requirements elicitation, management and development
Successful experience of engineering products or systems delivering information security
Able to achieve at least Baseline Security Clearance, ideally SC

Highly Desirable Skills
Previous successful experience as a Scrum Product Owner
Previous successful experience as a Software or System Architect
Use of Requirements Management tools, UML modelling tools and the Atlassian toolsuite
Experience of working in a Cloud Security related development project
Experience of using Cloud computing platforms – e.g. AWS, Azure, OpenStack
Applied cryptography
Security protocols
Database encryption
Networking and routing

Desirable Skills
Use of Enterprise Architect and DOORS
Model-based System Engineering

Essential Qualifications
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant technical degree, or with a technical postgraduate qualification

Desirable Qualifications
Evidence of a structured approach to achieving a Systems or Security Engineering qualification
Evidence of continuous learning
