In the UK, our simulators train the next generation of pilots for fighter jets, transporters and search and rescue helicopters. Thales has a requirement for a highly proficient software engineer with a good practical ability to work in our dynamic and forward thinking AGILE software environment. You will use a combination of C++,.NET and Web Technologies ( HTML5/JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS).

You will use a wide variety of commercial off the shelf (COTS) technologies (JIRA, Git, Maven, Nexus, Jenkins) as well as a suite of tools to support application development (VS, Eclipse, Python, SonarQube).

As a Software engineer within the Product Engineering Simulation group based at our Crawley site, you will be encouraged to take on work out of the box and work flexibility and grow into other simulation skills. The successful candidate would work across a variety of programmes, including the opportunity to work on significant R&D programmes.

Key Responsibilities

As a software engineer within Product Engineering you would take on the following tasks and responsibilities:
Analyse software requirements, design, code and test software components
Use proper design process, problem prevention / problem solution, working methodologies
Interact with all stakeholders to understand their needs
Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Working knowledge of one or more or the following programming languages (C++,.NETor, Web Technolgies ( HTML5/JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS))
OpenGL, graphics programming / modelling
Excellent communication skills
Proactive “can do” attitude
Ability to interface at all levels within the business and customers, partners and suppliers.

Ability to peer review others software.
Ability to learn & use effectively a variety of tools/technologies and computer architectures (VS, Eclipse, Python, SonarQube)
Good knowledge of Microsoft toolset
