Job Description
The Software Development Manager leads a software development team integrating & testing client applications for the distribution of Amazon Video on big-screen devices such as Smart TVs, Blu-Ray Players and Set Top Boxes. They lead the team to deliver a superlative and immersive experience to Amazon Video customers on a growing range of devices. The SDM guides the team to innovate, automate and trouble-shoot device integrations.

A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management and organizational skills, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, great analytical reasoning skills, and, of course, a passion for TV and film.
The Software Development Engineer will be part of a software development team integrating & testing client applications for the distribution of Amazon Video on big-screen devices. They will work to deliver a superlative and immersive experience to Amazon Video customers on a growing range of devices. The SDE will innovate, automate and trouble-shoot device integrations.

A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent organizational skills, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, high creativity, great analytical reasoning skills, and, of course, a passion for TV and film. The role is based in the London Development Centre and will provide opportunity to travel to partner sites in Europe, Asia and America.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in Computer Science or related field
· Significant technical experience as a software developer or development manager
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
· Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
· Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Experience developing in at least one of Java, C, C++, or Perl
· A proven track record of software delivery through all phases of development
· Ability to travel to throughout Europe and Asia

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
· Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
· Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
· Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
· Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
