We are currently recruiting for an experienced Bridge Engineer, at either Principal or Associate Director level, to join us as Bridges Team Leader in our centrally located Belfast office.

This team forms part of our Scotland and Ireland (S&I) Bridges Department, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin. Our S&I Bridges team have extensive experience in the design, checking, strengthening and construction supervision of all types of bridges, including highway, railway and footbridges, in steel, pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete and masonry. The type of construction for which we have been responsible ranges from the replacement of major viaducts to the strengthening of simple masonry arch bridges.

We work very closely with our clients to develop successful and innovative bespoke design solutions, constructed using a variety of techniques. Currently, we are undertaking the complex design of the widening of the structures for the Brent Cross Redevelopment project in London, the tender design for major Design and Build projects in Ireland as well as the design of several medium span bridges. Recently we completed the challenging design of the foundation strengthening for the Dargan Railway Viaduct in Belfast.

As the Bridges Team Leader for Belfast you will have the following daily responsibilities:
Technical and financial management of the Bridges team in Belfast.
Liaison with the Bridges Teams in Dublin and Scotland.
Conceptual design, analysis, detailed design, checking, assessment and strengthening of all types of highway and railway structures to current codes and standards.
Report writing.
Liaison with clients, stakeholders and business development.

Previous technical and financial management of a Bridges Team
Significant current experience in the analysis and design of bridges
Excellent analytical skills, experience in FEA techniques an advantage.
Good working knowledge of current Codes and Standards.
Managing and developing new and existing clients.

• Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Ideally educated to MSc level or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer with ICE or IstructE.
