Development Engineer/Technician

Our Development Engineering team has a vacancy for an Engineer or Principal Technician with highways and infrastructure technical experience, to work on local, national and international schemes from our offices in the South East, based in London.

The successful candidate will join AECOM’s established South East Development business which continues to expand following several major project wins. The team is involved in a wide variety of projects mainly relating to residential and mixed use developments and provides services that range from initial viability/due diligence, through to detailed designs for approval and construction.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate technical capability in vertical and horizontal highway design, and development drainage, and an awareness of other infrastructure elements such as utilities, pavements, signs and road markings. You will join a team that works collaboratively and aims to deliver an exceptional consultancy service, and an environment that seeks to nurture and equip our team to enhance their skills and capabilities.

Experience of working within a civil infrastructure team developing engineering designs and packages for approval and construction.
Knowledge of highway and drainage design standards including DMRB and Sewers for Adoption, as well as other local highway standards.
Capable of developing designs and vertical and horizontal modelling within AutoCAD, Civils3D, MX or PDS.
Capable of developing drainage designs using MicroDrainage.
Capable of contributing to the development of contract documents and technical reports.
Good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively, including our Clients professional teams.
Responsibility for managing the workloads and technical oversight of junior technicians, and coaching, mentoring and developing junior staff.
Developing of specific project outcomes on time, within budget, and to the quality required.
Demonstrate an understanding of relevant Health and Safety including CDM.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to prepare and progress new design packages with the minimum of input, and will be familiar with the general requirements of the local Highway Authority, water authorities and the Lead Local Flood Authority.

HNC/HND or degree in a relevant subject.​​
