About the Business Line Environment
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Process Safety Consultant to join a busy team of professionals based in Teesside. AECOM currently provide a range of safety services including COMAH support, DSEAR Risk Assessments, process safety auditing, ALARP assessments, HAZOP and LOPA studies and are looking for a Senior Process Safety Consultant to meet a growing demand from our clients.

We have an impressive portfolio of major national and international infrastructure projects. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
COMAH support for a major UK oil refinery
Risk assessment and design of fire-fighting foam system for a chemical and resin manufacturer
DSEAR Risk Assessments for an aerospace industry site
Preparation and delivery of HAZOP training to plant H&S managers across Europe for an aerospace industry client
Acetylene Risk Assessment for a manufacturing site
LOPA studies for improvements to a water company waste water plant
Hazardous area classification for a sewage pumping station

The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:

General Responsibilities
Reporting to a Principal Process Safety Consultant, you will also interface directly with other team members, from Graduate Consultants to Technical Directors and with other internal teams.
You will have strong development skills, have the ability to work independently and manage the work of others if and when required.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists, establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams throughout AECOM.
The ability and flexibility to work to very short and demanding timescales is essential. Excellent time management skills are required.
Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff.
Willingness to work out of the ‘home office’ as required (foreign travel may be required periodically). Time spent working away from the ‘home’ office can be, on average, up to 2 days a week, but may be for periods up to 4 or 5 days a week.

Minimum Requirements
he following minimum requirements apply to the position:
You will be able to undertake DSEAR Risk Assessments and produce hazardous area classification drawings.
You will be able to perform bow-tie analysis, event and fault tree analysis and produce ALARP justifications.
You will lead and provide scribe services to hazard studies including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA at an appropriate level.
You will have knowledge of COMAH regulations, preparation of Safety Reports and Hazardous Substances Consent applications.
Environmental Permitting Regulations experience, BAT Assessments and MATTE assessments is beneficial.
Experience of PHAST and HAZOP Manager (or similar software) is highly desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
You will have a degree in Engineering. Chemical is preferred, but Electrical, Mechanical or Environmental will be considered. Chartered Status would be beneficial however support is available to achieve this. An MSc in Process Safety would be highly desirable.
