Originally known as a bookseller, has dramatically expanded its range over the years to offer everything from DVDs to MP3s, Toys to Tools, Clothing to Computers and much more. is seeking a highly professional, experienced communications expert for the role of PR Manager, Operations. The purpose of the role is to deliver and evolve internal communications and stakeholder engagement programmes and implement media relations activities to support final mile solutions.

This role requires an intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated and creative communications professional. This individual will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic organisation and have a track record of generating results, as well as extensive experience in working across the range of communications disciplines. S/he will pay painstaking attention to important details.

Excellent writing skills are imperative for this role. The successful candidate must think and communicate clearly and be able to formulate a clear viewpoint on complicated issues, creating a concise and well-written narrative to express this opinion. S/he will develop creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges. The successful candidate will communicate an excitement and enthusiasm for customers, sellers, vendors and the Amazon business and brand as a whole.

Charismatic and a natural relationship builder, they will have an influential voice and credibility with established and senior stakeholders, internally and externally. The successful candidate will be prepared to roll up his/her sleeves and get work done, even when at times it sits outside the scope of the role’s direct remit.

Key Responsibilities

· Devising and implementing communications goals, strategies and tactical media relations, internal communications and stakeholder engagement campaigns
· Sourcing, writing and editing content, using various sources for news, and managing an external agency which will provide some editorial and full design and publishing support
· Support Public Policy work through the development and execution of relevant PR campaigns
· Provide communications counsel to internal executives on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities, ensuring they are strategically employed in the public domain
· Effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson
· Create and update communication materials
· Manage the Amazon in the Community corporate responsibility programme
· Manage budgets and deliver clear, results-focused reports
· Manage sponsorships, events and speaking opportunities aimed at building Amazon’s reputation
· Develop effective outreach programmes to stakeholders at a local and national level
· Liaise and work with colleagues across the EU to ensure consistency of company-wide communication and share best practice
· Build relationships with and earn the respect of the UK management team


· A minimum of 8 years in an agency/in-house communications experience
· Background working at senior levels within the UK business, media, political and corporate responsibility environment, with strong awareness and understanding of UK public policy landscape
· Track record of successful delivery of B2B and customer focussed communications campaigns
· Experience of communicating final mile solutions preferred
· Extensive experience in working effectively with high-level media, industry stakeholders and other corporate influencers
· Knowledge of the UK retail and online markets preferred
· Previous awareness and expertise in corporate responsibility preferred
