UX Designer, Voice & Advanced NUI Shopping

VANS is seeking a talented UX Designer to play a key role in the future of shopping at Amazon. In this role, you will help drive Amazon’s end-to-end shopping experience across voice and voice-enabled platforms. The products you would envision and craft require ambitious thinking and a tireless focus on solving customer problems. You will be responsible for designing best-in-class, voice powered shopping experiences in a fast-paced, agile environment and seeing them through to launch—then using data to iterate and improve. You will work closely with engineering, product management and marketing to successfully drive the design of key features both internally, and across partner teams.

The ideal candidate will:
· Design v1 experiences while planning and thinking strategically for the direction of future iterations.
· Quickly iterate on multiple interactive design solutions and work through details.
· Advocate for your design solutions by putting them in context of customer and business goals.
· Develop high-level and/or detailed storyboards, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
· Deliver work that's not only user-friendly and aesthetically engaging, but also produces results.
· Assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features by actively participating in user research and assessing performance metrics.
· Present UX design work to multiple teams and senior leadership for review and feedback.
· Have experience working with development and product management teams, driving multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
· Be proficient with the standard tools of the design trade, e.g. Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.

· Drive the UX design of key, differentiated features for Amazon shopping across voice and voice-enabled platforms.
· Use diverse inputs — from product leadership to market analysis, customer feedback, metrics and usability findings — to identify and define exciting new concepts, opportunities, and solutions to customer problems.
· Mange design from initial concept through final implementation, working with our core team as well as partner teams across Amazon.
· Develop and maintain detailed design specs for both voice and screen-based UX.
· Clearly and persuasively communicate, specify, and describe design concepts, solutions, and needs to senior executives.
· Lead customer advocacy and integrate user research into the product development process.
· Contribute to the group’s best practices for UX design while continually advocating design thinking, process, and craft throughout our organization.
· Use humour, creativity, and positive energy to maintain personal and team momentum.


· 4+ years of professional experience as an interactive designer/user experience designer.
· An online portfolio demonstrating strong visual design skills and UX experience across a range of media including online, mobile and tablet.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects of significant scope with high impact to the overall user experience.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences.
· Experience working with development and product management teams, driving multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with the standard tools of the design trade, e.g. Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
· Fluency in best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centred design process, as well as strong knowledge of user research principles and techniques.


· A bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree.
· Proficiency with mobile, web, and accessibility standards.
· Service or industrial design experience.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
· A relentless customer focus.
· Prototyping skills and/or basic working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, & CSS.
· Experience conducting usability and contextual research with users.
· Experience in designing for multimodal, NUI products and/or environments.
· Visual and/or interaction design expertise demonstrated through high fidelity comps.
