Food Safety Manager

High-level summary of deliverables:
· Incorporate food safety industry best practice into product handling processes for the receipt, storage, transportation and disposal of food.

· Work as part of a project team to ensure all food safety requirements are executed on schedule.

· Work directly with Amazon Operations teams, delivery stations, transportation and suppliers to develop and implement food safety policies which comply with national legislation, industry guidance and global Amazon policies.

· Execute internal and external food safety audits, creating scalable solutions and reporting the results to stakeholders.

· Perform supplier approval visits in accordance with the European Amazon supplier approval process.

· Continuously identify and communicate improvement opportunities.

· Leverage technology to manage compliance processes, having a detailed understanding of the legal requirements and its application to develop innovative solutions.

· Liaise proactively and reactively with regulators to ensure Amazon continue to be seen as a trusted organisation.

· Create and monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness and develop scalable solutions of reporting the results to business stakeholders.

· Work with the Operations and Retail teams to ensure food safety processes are embedded in standard operating practices, including training to new starters.

· Investigate complaints on behalf of customers and deliver reports to senior stakeholders


Minimum Qualifications:
· 3+ years’ experience managing in food safety, food technical or quality assurances functions in a retail or manufacturing environment.
· Degree in food science or related field.
· HACCP plan development experience (Advanced HACCP training).
· Programme management.
· Experience of creating sustainable, scalable processes.
· Knowledge of European regulations and country regulations (Specifically UK & Germany) as well as experience interacting with local and national regulators.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Exceptional organisational skills.
· Ability to work independently and autonomously.
· Ability to travel frequently within Europe visiting fulfilment centers, as well as for routine attendance at the relevant country headquarters.
· Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements.
· Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team, including adherence to core values and dynamic corporate culture.
· Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.


· 5+ experience managing in food safety, food technical or quality assurances functions in a retail or manufacturing environment.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English and German.
· Experience interacting with research organisations and industry/trade associations.
· GFSI scheme audit experience.
· Online/retail/food manufacturing experience.
· Experience in writing organisational documentation (e.g. policies and procedures).
