About the Business Line Environment
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM is looking to recruit landscape architects into our Manchester, Birmingham and Chesterfield offices, following several major project wins. Roles exist at graduate (Chesterfield/Birmingham), senior (Manchester/Chesterfield) and principal (Birmingham) levels. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver projects from initial planning through to final completion. The successful candidates will join a large national team of landscape architects committed to delivering high quality work on time and within budget. You will be offered support to expand your experience and develop within a structured, friendly team environment. We encourage career development and offer mentoring on the Pathway to Chartership.

Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local and national infrastructure improvements for major clients. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
HS2 Phase 2b landscape and visual assessment
HS2 Independent Assessor of Plant Material
HS2 Phase 1 – West Midlands metropolitan section assessment and mitigation design and enabling works contract
Detailed design and implementation of public realm for University of Salford as part of major transformational change to the campus
Detailed design and contract administration for six streets in Leicester’s heritage quarter
Neighbourhood planning – urban design studies and creation of new spaces and connectivity within towns
Oakham High Street - design options and subsequent detail design and implementation for enhancement
Public realm strategy for Paisley town centre as part of their bid for City of Culture 2021
Detail design for a major residential project in York on former industrial land.
Leicester flood conveyance design and implementation on multiple sites within the city centre
M54/M6 landscape and visual impact assessment for a new highway
SHLAA housing assessments for local authorities in Nottinghamshire
LVIA of numerous development types – from minerals to retail.

Minimum Requirements
You will have good technical and communication skills appropriate for the level of appointment
Evidence of ability to work in a team, and for senior posts to manage the workload of others
You will be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety compliance and for senior posts to review and approve risk assessments
You will have a flexible approach to supporting the existing teams, which is likely to involve travel to sites and potentially full days in the field
Good photoshop, ACAD and word skills as well as attention to detail and compliance with file naming and filing conventions.
Ability to make judgments based on site survey, analysis of development proposals and justify conclusions on likely effects and appropriate mitigation.
Driving licence essential for all posts

Preferred Qualifications
For graduate posts you will have a degree/post graduate qualification in landscape architecture and, for more senior roles, Chartered member of the Landscape Institute
