Based in the Cardiff, our Building Engineering group is undergoing continuing growth and development as it continues to win major work in the health care, data centre, education and commercial sectors. We continue to implement and develop our integrated building information modelling service (BIM) delivery in order to better serve our clients while continuing to drive improvements in our design quality and remain at the cutting edge of the market.

Reporting to the group CAD/BIM Manager, this Building Services (MEP) role would involve you being a key member within this multi-disciplinary and versatile team. Your skills will be instrumental in understanding and delivering high quality Building Information Models.

Role:

For allocated projects, the role will include:

• Developing BIM Execution Plans with support from the group BIM Manager
• Setting up new project models in accordance with project standards
• Working with the Project Manager and discipline engineers to define deliverables schedules, and implementing these within the model
• Managing resource
• Supporting the project team with technical delivery using Revit
• Modelling of a range of services, including but not limited to mechanical pipework, ventilation, lighting, power, containment and drainage.
• Co-ordination of services using Revit and Navisworks
• Attending both internal and external coordination meetings
• Drawing production of modeled services.
• Monitoring the quality of output
• As part of the Building Engineering group, the candidate will engage with other model managers and members of the team to support development of the group as a whole.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

• Excellent understanding of model and drawing production using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
• Experienced in providing technical support for Revit MEP and AutoCAD
• Experience of using Navisworks simulate or manage to conduct visual audits and clash detection.
• Experienced in preparation of drawings and models with limited input from engineers, using own experience to develop output from sketches provided by engineers
• Knowledge of MEP systems and how services should be routed and coordinated to a design level of detail.
• Experienced in supervising less experienced technicians.
• Ability to balance technician resources against project requirements.
• Ability to communicate technical issues to co-professionals, contractors and Clients.
• Proven success of working in a team environment.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work on multiple projects.

Qualifications:

• A BTEC HNC or higher in an Engineering, Construction, Management, or Architecture related field.
• Solid experience within building services consultancy, including soild experience in the use of Revit MEP.

Desirable skills and knowledge:

• Experienced in conducting model reviews.
• Experience of model exchange using IFC.
• An understanding of how building services are coordinated and installed to a construction level of detail.
• Familiarity with industry standards including PAS 1192 and BS 1192.
• Experience of producing BIM Execution Plans
• A range of sector experience.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Understanding of commercial realities and business needs.
• Team leadership skills.
• Programming skills
