Assistant Planner

Primary Purpose of Job
• Responsible for enabling achievement of production plan to support Operations requirements by supporting Material and Production flow.
• Provide departmental measures to allow monitoring and control of key activities
• Identify and resolve issues preventing material flow.
• Act as support to Production where required to achieve targets

• Part of Operation Planning team of 9 Ops Planners.

Key tasks and accountabilities
• Apply a disciplined approach to Production order progression and completion
• Build relationships with all team members eg Team Leaders, Prog Managers, Buyers
• Report job progress through prescribed medium eg MPS , Shop Floor Control
• Be a point of focus to assist Ops Planners.
• Ensure Product line continuity by looking to identify, and manage, bottlenecks
• Develop solutions to process issues in line with company objectives

Technical and Professional skills
• Develop MRP II planning skills
• Develop understanding of complex bills of material & routings.
• Develop knowledge of Manufacturing and Material processes.
• Be an excellent communicator and able to prioritise tasks.
• Computer literate, including a good working knowledge of spreadsheets is essential.
• Ability to provide analytical data reporting.

Education & Qualifications
• Higher level or equivalent and/or relevant Further Education level.
• Recognition of complimentary or associated awards will be beneficial to applicants.
• Computer literate.
• Future growth in the role will require studying for further qualification (eg Operations Management or APICS)
