We are looking for graduates from an accounting, business, finance or numerical background to join our exciting Finance Graduate Development Programme

Each Graduate will be trained to become a fully capable accountant. Thales will support development towards an appropriate professional qualification with CIMA or ACCA. This will typically start once some experience has been gained and an initial career preference established.

You are expected to complete the full GDP (3 years), maximising the opportunities available to you through the programme.

You will need to be geographically flexible as you will be required to work at key Thales sites in the UK in order to complete your programme.

Over the course of the Development Programme you are likely to become involved in many of the following activities:
Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register, including processing capital expenditure requests, raising disposal/transfer documentation and assisting in the perpetual audit of the company’s assets
Providing financial support and analysis to cost centre managers
Preparation of monthly stock reports including the processing of the stock journals plus variance analysis and investigation
Providing support and assistance to cost centre managers in preparing budgets and re-forecasts
Preparation of assigned budget schedules / reports
Control and review project costs with Programme Teams
Involvement in the preparation of the Project financial data for Strategic Business Plans
Financial accounting including posting to nominal and reconciliation
Cash management
Accounting for projects including order book management, completing EAC, sales and margin trading, WIP to nominal reconciliations
Labour and overhead cost management, calculation of overhead rates

Desired skills, experience and qualifications

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject i.e. Accounting, Finance, Business but we welcome applications from any candidates with a strong interest in building a career within finance.
You should have strong computing skills and a good working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint and, preferably, some knowledge of Access. You should have the desire to develop a thorough understanding of the business and the potential to develop into a business partner support role.
The ability to work to tight deadlines
An ability to interact and communicate with both financial and non-financial managers at all levels of the organisation
The ability to work as part of a team

Please note that GDP activities take place during the working week but may require the investment of some personal time for travel and follow up activities.You will have the opportunity to travel to Thales and non Thales sites throughout the UK when participating in Graduate Development Programme activities.
