The Electronic Design team in Belfast perform a real job from the start, work as part of an integrated product team experiencing activities such as analysing electronic circuit requirements, selecting components, developing schematics, circuit simulation analysis, developing and testing electronic assemblies. They specify and design both analogue and digital electronic circuits for a range of military products, Develop test strategy’s and produce test specification and schedules.

Key responsibilities

To develop innovative and cost effective electronic solutions which meet the design requirements within the constraints of the programme budget and schedule.
To analyse and evaluate new electronic system requirements and establish the feasibility and design approach for new electronic designs.
To specify electronic systems functional design criteria, particularly with respect to performance, engineering features, interfaces and testing requirements.
To work with colleagues to design new systems, circuits and devices or to further
develop existing technology.
To use CAD engineering design tools to perform electronics engineering tasks.
Use simulation and modelling tools to analyse the predicted performance of designs.
To provide cost and manpower estimates along with design risk assessments on proposed electronic design solutions.
To prepare technical reports, development specifications and production test documentation
To provide technical advice and information to other disciplines.
To maintain and ensure compliance to related design standards processes and procedures.
To carry out testing of developmental hardware in our Labs or at external facilities, as required.
To liaise with subcontractors and customers to agree design specification and ensure that these meet the customer needs.
To provide technical support to technicians, operators and other colleagues.
To keep abreast with developments in electronic technologies, standards and regulations.

Skills, qualifications and experience
2:1 Degree Minimum
Electrical / Electronic Engineering
A good general understanding of Electronic Principles is essential. Some experience in electronic circuit development and debugging is desirable.
