Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary AECOM is a premier fully integrated infrastructure and support services firm, incorporating one of the leading environmental consultancy teams in the UK. Our UK Ecology Team comprises over 100 ecologists based across the UK and covers all freshwater, marine and terrestrial habitats. We provide our clients with the full range of ecological services including specialist habitat and species surveys, impact assessment, advice on biodiversity mitigation, offsetting and enhancement, and management planning for biodiversity.

Our projects include high profile major transport and other infrastructure, conventional and renewable power development as well as other industrial and, commercial development projects.

AECOM is growing our successful ecology team in the UK and has opportunities for Principal Ecologists who are ambitious team players with a strong aptitude for work winning, client care, technical project delivery and development of innovative, cost effective solutions in a working environment that is stimulating and collaborative.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role holders will deliver ecological consultancy and advisory services to both internal and external clients to a high level of technical quality and to programme and budget. They must have strong behavioural competencies with respect to client care, collaborative working, personal responsibility, decision making and teamwork.

The role holders will need to be equally comfortable working on small or major projects, contributing positively as a technical specialist or managing projects, notably in the environment, power, infrastructure and industrial sectors.

This will include:
Working as part of the existing network of AECOM ecologists within the UK and Ireland;
Leading on winning a wide range of ecological work;
Supporting internal clients with delivering the ecological requirements within multi-disciplinary tenders and projects;

Minimum Requirements Essential requirements for the successful candidates are:
Proactive and careful approach to Health and Safety, including first aid training certificate;
Technical and professional proficiency with a demonstrable history of winning and delivering ecology projects to a high standard, on time and within budgets;
Experience of ecological impact assessment, design and/or construction management on major infrastructure projects in the UK.
Excellent knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy, as well as Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA);
Full Member of CIEEM or similar professional body;

Preferred Qualifications To include at least some of the following:
Recognised degree in a biological, science or related discipline – a relevant post graduate qualification in the one of these would be advantageous;
Full Member of CIEEM or similar professional body; or eligible to qualify for this status;
Chartered with a professional accreditation/ registration body;
