Warranty Engineer

Role Purpose
This position will lead and coordinate warranty analysis activity between NC Operations, AUB Application Engineering and customers. As the main point of contact for all customers’ warranty analyses, this role will be uniquely positioned to identify common issues, share knowledge and read across solutions to issues across the region. Role will be based at the GKN Sanford location.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and organize warranty parts analysis activities for all customer returns coordinating from initial review through part closure.

Interface with application engineering teams, quality and manufacturing engineering to review warranty analysis results using acquired data to identify issues requiring resolution.

Coordinate with AUB and other off site laboratories any additional analysis activities necessary to appropriately disposition warranty returns.

Identify, with data from part analysis, causes for warranty returns. Initiate and lead root cause determination activities within engineering and quality teams.

Report warranty investigation topics and status to the larger organization in effort to identify risks to new business or program launch activities or VA/VE opportunities.

Manage warranty issues with structured, clear, regular reporting to AUB Account Team, Quality, Manufacturing and Customer as required

Lead warranty analysis to identify potential trending issues from return parts across products and customers in effort to drive reduced warranty costs to GKN and its customers.

Manage customer part review meetings and communicate status of warranty actions to customer

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Formal qualifications required:

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related degree, preferred.

Previous experience required:

Three to Five or more year of experience in application or manufacturing engineering.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work across functional areas.
Computer Skills (MS Office Programs, MS Project, MfgPro, Kronos).
