Corporate Counsel, AWS Trade

London, United Kingdom

Are you looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, innovative company? Come make history with Amazon’s legal department.
We are looking for a talented and motivated attorney to lead our trade law and compliance across Europe, Middle East and Africa in support of our rapidly growing and evolving Amazon Web Services businesses. You will be responsible for counseling the businesses on a broad range of import and export regulatory and commercial matters, including on emerging and cutting edge areas of trade law across EMEA. You will work directly with the businesses you support, serving as counsel and providing strategic input on import/export compliance and transportation and supply chain commercial transactions and initiatives. You will collaborate with attorneys across the globe to develop innovative international trade, transportation and supply chain solutions. You will provide day-to-day guidance on import/export regulations, and advise on upcoming regulatory changes and enforcement trends. In addition to drafting and negotiating commercial transactions with customs brokers, suppliers and logistics companies, you will employ creative approaches to resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, including pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. You will develop and improve import/export policies and procedures, including working cross-functionally with technology teams to implement automated solutions. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.

· 4-6 years (with at least two years at a law firm) in import/export regulatory matters, preferably with some portion of that experience in commercial transactions or technology
· Juris Doctor, LLB or other international equivalent
· Membership in good standing in at least one state or foreign bar
· Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, as needed

· A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience is a plus
· Hands-on project management experience, including excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple and varying mission-critical projects at once, and to follow through and meet deadlines
· Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
· Ability to demonstrate sound and practical business judgment even in ambiguous situations
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor
The position will be based in London.
