Working Lead - Senior Assembly Technician (Orangeburg)

Role Purpose
Perform a variety of duties involved in the preparation, fabrication and assembly of complicated and/or diversified composite details and assemblies. As assigned, may assist or direct hourly assembly technicians engaged in composite preparation, fabrication, bonding and assembly operations. As directed, may check work of others and provide instruction in proper work methods and/or use of equipment and materials.

Key Responsibilities
Duties may include:

Primary responsibility and focus of the position involves direct tasks associated with the on-time production and delivery of high quality composite products.

As assigned, perform and train others to perform tasks associated with laminate lay-up, composite assembly and/or bonding operations. Materials used in the process will involve metals and composite materials such as: fiberglass, kevlar, boron fiber, and graphite.

As assigned, operate and train others in the safe operation of power tools that may include drills, saws, disc sanders, routers and other equipment.

As assigned, operate and train others in the safe operation of various compression riveters and rivet guns.

Inspection of completed tasks and the completed tasks of others to ensure material meets manufacturing and quality assurance standards.

As assigned, may be responsible for training or directing small groups of associates performing specialized and/or complicated tasks.

Support the vision and mission for the Company and the strategies and processes to exceed the expectations of our customers and management.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
A High School diploma or GED and four to six (4-6) years of direct and progressive manufacturing experience are required. Working knowledge of basic shop math concepts. Ability to use and interpret data obtained from measuring devices such as calipers, scales and gages. Two to three years (2-3) of work experience with the manufacture of aerospace composite products required. Must demonstrate an understanding of basic procedures required for composite assembly, bonding, laminating, trim and drill, part repair and core operations. A basic level of familiarity with personal computer functions and software is required. Moderate physical effort required to lay-up details on cumbersome mold surfaces and the operation of hand tools such as riveters, drills, grinders and sanders. Work experience or training in leadership, coaching, counseling, associate training and team building is highly desired. The Senior Assembly Technician – W/L position is a developmental assignment for future consideration as a team leader/supervisor. Rejection of a supervisory position will be grounds for possible downgrade from the Senior Assembly Technician – W/L position.
