The Position
We are seeking a talented and experienced operations professional to manage Book Depository’s inbound supply chain (input flows to the FC Network) including order placement and freight-ins as well as reverse logistics (customer and delivery returns). The three key areas of action are Systems (ensuring the orders flow smoothly and timely through the ordering, routing and website systems), Vendors (working with publishers and wholesalers to ensure they meet delivery and quality SLAs) and Processes (execute properly when deviations are identified, new vendors are added or new escalations are received). Key measures include vendor inbound metrics including Product Lead Time, Supplier Estimate Accuracy and Vendor Fulfilment Rates; Ordering efficiency, including cross ordering and order routing efficiency; and set up of new vendors. This role is of paramount importance to support the improvement of Delivery Experience, International Expansion and Refunds and Reorders, which are top business priorities.. An important focus should be placed on improving and simplifying processes and systems, people development, vendor collaboration and Stakeholder management.

The Inbound Supply Chain Manager will manage the Ordering Team (currently a team of 4), will report into the Category Leader and Commercial Director and will be part of the Commercial Management Team.

Key responsibilities include
· Managing and developing the Procurement Team, cementing a structure with the right balance of process validations and value added tasks.
· Identifying and delivering systems and process improvements to the ordering operation, including working directly with vendors on EDI integration and supply chain improvements that reduce cross ordering and CRAP.
· Identifying and delivering vendor routing analysis to support better understanding of our supply chain and using this data to identify process improvement levers and initiatives.
· Creating and Managing a solid performance management structure with vendors, including Outputs and Input metrics as well as governance and mechanisms to make decisions. This includes the PLT/SEA/SLA performance of our vendors (publishers, distributors and wholesalers) and working closely with FC Ops teams on issue resolution.
· Manage the setting up of new vendors on all back end systems and coordinate with internal systems, commercial and operations on the listing and activation on route. Manage EDI integration with internal and external stakeholders.
· Manage the Inbound Supply Chain Specialist based at our Gloucester FC, covering in-bound deliveries (SLA’s), shortage resolution with vendors and managing returned goods across our UK and AU FCs.
· Supporting the FC team with demand phasing and peak forecasting.
· Owning out of stock issue resolution and order delays and agreeing resolution and customer communications with CS.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a Supply Chain discipline, or similar degree with analytical bias.
· Minimum of 5 years in supply chain, inventory, operations, product or vendor management.
· Strong ownership, bias for action and discipline in establishing and improving processes.
· Ability to extract basic data using SQL and then perform data analysis, problem solving and project management.
· Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and deliver results.
· Experience working independently to quickly prioritise efforts in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· MBA or MSc preferred.
· Background in delivering cost-savings through operational improvements in supply-chain or ordering processes.
