Job Summary Our Strategic Highways Team, based in the centre of Newcastle, currently has a vacancy for a Senior Technician.

We are looking to enhance and enlarge the team with people who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination.

The highways business in the North East represents over 40 years of accumulated skills, experience and established culture in the delivery of all types of highway schemes; from major motorway improvements with Highways England such as the A1 Dishforth to Barton Improvement scheme to major highway schemes such as Morpeth Northern Bypass, New Tyne Crossing and several junction improvements on the strategic highway network. Our modern offices on Newcastle Quayside have good transport links and the teams have an established reputation for quality and delivery. We are looking to enhance and enlarge these teams with people who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination.

Currently engaged on a number of interesting and challenging projects both locally and nationally there are a number of opportunities for the candidates to be involved in the range of work secured and anticipated. Recent and current projects in the UK include HS 2, future improvements to the A184 in Gateshead and HE Network Maintenance schemes. Our services offered to our clients include the full range and scope of highways work from inception to completion across all the key discipline areas. We work on schemes from feasibility stage through the development phase and planning and DCO process, preliminary design, detailed design and site supervision.

As Senior Technician, you will be responsible for:

Production of a broad range of Cad drawings for major road schemes within a team environment.
Cad management for drawing production including layers/ formats in accordance with company standards.
Use of a Common Data Environment for the storage and management of drawings and documents.
Production of 3D Cad models for use in BIM projects, for clash identification, presentations and modelling.
A collaborative approach to design involving a number of different disciplines;
Supervision of Junior Cad staff. Mentoring and developing their Cad and technical capabilities;
Working with and the development of Cad related office procedures;
Minimum Requirements Applicants will need the following essential competencies:

Engineering Qualification (BTEC/HND/HNC/AVCE or similar)
Good written skills and a working knowledge of general office software (Microsoft Office).
Working knowledge of Cad/3d Cad and Modelling within an infrastructure design environment.
Working knowledge of DMRB standards
Preferred Qualifications Applicants will preferably have the following desirable competencies:

Extensive knowledge of Cad/3d Cad and Modelling within a Highway design environment.
Knowledge and use of MX and other roads related software, Autotrack, KeySign, KeyLine, Sign plot, RRRaP, or similar.
Experience of Cad management.
Experience of 3d Cad modelling for BIM projects.
