Role Purpose
The Head of Manufacturing Engineering will lead a regionally-deployed manufacturing engineering team to deliver zero defect programs across the North American Region. They will build a multi-disciplined, process control focused, regional manufacturing engineering team that eliminate defects through deployment of GKN Aerospace global manufacturing engineering tool suite. In addition, they will act as a regional functional leader for manufacturing engineering, deploying GKN Aerospace global manufacturing engineering strategy in conjunction with counterparts from the other regions.

Key Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute the strategy enabling the deployed regional manufacturing engineering team to deliver zero defect projects in the operating businesses.
- Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the deployed regional manufacturing engineering team delivering business level results.
- Integrates GKN Aerospace global manufacturing engineering initiatives into the North American manufacturing engineering strategy.
- Build a culture of process control mindset in the manufacturing engineering teams across the operating businesses in the region.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems through root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to eliminate non-conformances.
- Develop and deliver manufacturing engineering training strategy for the region to ensure complete alignment and understanding of the GKN Aerospace global engineering tool suite. Provide coaching support to collegues in the operating businesses.
- Delivers measurable, metrics driven results for the projects to which they and their team are assigned.
- Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
- Leads and champions Lean initiatives in the manufacturing engineeeing function
- Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Required qualifications:
- B.S. degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical or aerospace engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years in a manufacturing environment with 5+ years in aerospace manufacturing.
- 5+ years of management experience, incorporating both technical expertise and team leadership of multi-discipline technical teams (i.e. manufacturing engineers).
- U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.

Additional qualifications:

- Aerostructures (metallics and/or composites) or assembly manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must be a self-starter and have proven abilities with project planning and management. In addition, must have demonstrated effective leadership of individuals and groups.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- Relentless and results driven performer with a Continuous Improvement mind-set;
- A dynamic individual with a high level of energy, a proactive self-starter who is confident and able to work independently;
- Superior interpersonal skills, delivers information clearly and factually. Capable of adjusting to situation or audience;

Expect up to 75% travel in this role depending upon location and business needs
