Regional Product & Process Center (RPPC) Engineer

Role Purpose
Perform engineering activities from costing through launch using GKN practices and standards

Key Responsibilities
Engineering
o Build routers and perform costing tasks associated with new or changed products taking into consideration all steps in the process including sub-contracted work
o Assist in the redesign of components in order to make them PM compatible
o Perform a risk assessment on new products and processes
o Use systems such as eRFQ, Team Center, etc. to perform tasks and store relevant information
o Coordinate and organize quoting and launch activities in cooperation with plant engineering, operations, quality, and sales
o Participate in plant-to-plant Know-How Transfer as necessary
o Manage local product and process information and intellectual property

Continuous Improvement
o Participate in continuous improvement measures and identify remove waste from the system
o Identify ways to increase competitiveness in costing and processes such as VA/VE

Strategy
o Support product and process plans for assigned products and manufacturing plants to be included in the Technology Plan, Strategy, and Site industrial plans

Customers
o Provide assistance to the sales and quality teams and represent GKN at customers
o Perform eRFQ’s in a timely and accurate fashion
o Build Brand awareness by standard product presentations based on strategy, product and plant presentations
o Participate in Tech Days at customers as needed

People
o Work cross-functionally with other departments including design, quality, sales, and continuous improvement
o Understand and live according to the vision, mission, and values of GKN
o Participate in training opportunities including product and process training

Health, Safety, and the Environment
oSupport health, safety, and environmental initiatives in accordance with GKN Sinter Metals methodology while leading by example
oBe aware of HSE as a part of new business and process development

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Formal qualifications required:
• Bachelors Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience
• Prefer minimum 1 year of experience in the Powder Metal (PM) industry with some exposure to P/M products and Processes
• Basic understanding of manufacturing and process engineering system development, automotive quality systems, ISO/TS/QS International Quality Standards, MPIF standards, and problem solving
• Basic knowledge of PM manufacturing processes including compacting, sintering, and sizing
• Computer literate with skills in CAD and all Microsoft Office applications

• Strong problem solving and project management skills
• Ability to travel (up to 30%)
