We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Planner to join our team in Whitehaven, Cumbria. The candidate will be involved in providing both policy and development planning advice to clients and helping to address planning issues on major projects. This role will suit a dynamic, competent, hard-working individual with excellent communication and team working skills.

Role

• Undertake evidence based studies and research to provide sound policy advice.

• Assist in preparing planning applications and liaising with the Local Authority to help secure permission and sign off on conditions.

• To work in teams – a specialist within a multi-disciplinary team.

• Liaise with clients and stakeholders and work with them on a day to day basis, under supervision of the project manager or director.

• Develop relationships internally with other Arup practices/teams.

• Assist with preparing bids for new work.

• Report writing and giving presentations.

Requirements and skills

• RTPI Accredited Degree or Masters Degree in Town Planning.

• Working towards membership of the Royal Institute of Town Planners.

• 2 to 3 years’ experience.

• Experience of working for public or private sector.

• Experience of developing planning policy and of providing development planning services.

• Commercial aptitude.
