Production Manager

London, United Kingdom

In an effort to push the boundaries and transform perceptions of spoken-word entertainment, Audible is now developing, commissioning and producing a wide range of high-quality, original, audio programmes.

From award-winning multicast dramas starring some of the world’s best actors and live stand-up comedy to landmark documentary series and branded partnerships with leading cultural institutions, Audible’s orginal content commissions inspire, challenge, delight, surprise and redefine the public’s perception of audio.

The Audible Originals team are responsible for the creation of a large portfolio of groundbreaking new content. We create exclusive, high quality and exceptional listening experiences for a global audience. Founded just three years ago, the UK office, studios and team also provide a production hub and centre of editorial excellence for the wider business on all scripted development and production.

To support a major expansion of our scripted output - and an increasingly international outlook on the development, commissioning and production of audio drama and comedy - we are looking for an experienced, logistically proven and detail orientated producer or production manager to join the team.

This individual will be part of Audible’s vision for original content development and production. In the context of scripted comedy and drama, this vision will be driven by investment in scripts, pilots and testing in a rapidly growing and fast-moving environment.

The remit of this role is broad, exciting and challenging - and the job will be based out of Audible’s London offices.

We’re looking for the right combination of experience in terms of production co-ordination and management, high emotional intelligence, exceptional understanding of the drama and scripted genre and above all, excellent logistical and organizational skills.

You will have a love for great audio and storytelling. You are likely to have existing relationships with production companies, directors, producers and agents in the audio space (radio, podcasts etc). You will want to push boundaries. You will also possess a deep understanding of why great audio programmes work - and how to encourage and foster greatness in your own areas of ownership.

Most of all you will be organized, passionate, innovative and a multi-skilled team player.

· Management of selected scripted comedy and drama projects, ensuring they’re delivered on schedule, within agreed budgets and to the highest standards.
· Overall responsibility for the management of the production slate and release plans – ensuring all projects in development and production are delivered and published within business-critical timelines
· Co-ordination and motivation of a wide range of freelance producers, agents, directors and production companies we partner with.
· Work closely with internal teams (finance, studios, legal, merchandising, marketing etc) on budget development, promotional activities and utilization of our in-house production resources.
· Oversee the management of productions being re-versioned for our international stores (e.g. delivery of assets, technical co-ordination between teams, translation etc).
· Work closely with other members of the Audible Original Content team and contribute ideas and ongoing process improvements to the wider content strategy.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Experience of production/project management of multiple projects in a media environment (ideally audio related).
· An extensive network of relationships in terms of engineers, producers, directors, sound designers, musicians etc
· Proven understanding of the production and post-production process
· Script reading/writing/editing skills
· A knowledge and/or understanding of digital storytelling trends
· Familiarity with a wide range of genres (romance, historical, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, contemporary, crime, thrillers, comedy etc)
· Impeccable people skills in terms of maintaining internal relationships and fostering external ones
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Good level of Excel skills

· BA Degree 2.1 and above
· Experience of Amazon and/or Audible processes
· If scripted content not a specialism, than a demonstrable passion for and understanding of all aspects of storytelling, combined with production and/or project management experience within an audio related environment (radio, podcast, music etc) or the media industry more generally (film, game, theatre, television etc)
· Ability to interpret and selectively apply audience insights, research and listening data
· An understanding of digital content services (either download to own and/or streaming) would be a bonus
