UX Designer

Amazon Web Services’ Technical Operations team (TechOps) is Amazon’s central defence against customer impact from large-scale incidents, offering best-in-class Incident Management. Our engineers are front-and-centre in driving down event duration using our experience in operational excellence, best current practices and developing incident management tools.
We are looking for a creative user interface designer who can work closely with our engineers to reduce the friction in our toolset, and enable us to mitigate customer impact as quickly as possible. Our team is building tools to ensure Amazon’s customers can rely on the highest-availability, lowest-latency cloud platform on the planet, and you will play a significant role in determining how effective these tools are. We work closely with the teams who own the largest AWS products, building tools which allow AWS engineers collaborate to mitigate customer impacting events.

· 5 or more years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar UX-related role
· An available portfolio or samples of work demonstrating relevant experience
· Fluency in best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centred design process, as well as strong knowledge of user experience principles and techniques
· Experience creating prototypes and highly detailed wireframes for complex web applications
· Experience implementing user interface patterns for complex applications
· Experience producing functional prototypes in HTML, JavaScript, & CSS
· Experience working in a diverse and collaborative team and directly with developers for implementation of designs


· Experience building web-based products
· Strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed when needed
· Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for design decisions
· A bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree is ideal
· Experience with data-driven design, (i.e. usability studies, performing user research)
· Experience working with software developers in an Agile/Scrum environment
