Senior Consultant (Intelligent Transport Systems)

Following success in our Transportation business in UK we are seeking to strengthen our Technology team through the appointment of a Senior or Principal level Engineer to support delivery of inter-urban highways technology and ITS schemes.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly with the highways engineering teams in these locations. Although the role is principally focused on UK projects, AECOM's Transportation team also supports delivery of projects across the AECOM's European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business. We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.

Job Responsibilities:

Undertake the role of Technology designer across a number of commissions;

Undertake the function of developing and mentoring of junior ITS staff;

Lead role in the development of ITS scheme designs and specification (urban and / or inter-urban);

Work on multi discipline commissions; supporting in the preparation of detailed ITS design for major highway / urban commissions; Lead the preparation / review / checking of highly technical reports.

Minimum Requirements

Key to this role is the delivery of the ITS/technology components of Highways England major projects and the successful applicant will therefore be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Planning, design and implementation of ITS assets on the Highways England network e.g. VMS, MIDAS, CCTV;

Planning, design and implementation of SMART Motorway projects;

HA ITS systems including Regional Control Centres; and

Power and communication design for Highways England ITS assets.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualified ideally with a relevant degree (e.g. electrical, electronic engineering or similar related subjects) with relevant experience;

Working towards professional qualifications (e.g. CEng, MIET etc);

Ability to deliver solutions and successfully manage time to meet project deadlines;

Ability to deliver ITS/technology components of highways projects including production of design calculation, drawings, communication drawings, specifications etc;

Appreciation and knowledge of computer systems technology, telecommunication and data transmission;

Have an excellent working knowledge and experience of Highways England standards and procedures;

A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills;

Highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Ability to work on their own with minimum supervision.

Demonstrate proven Project Management skills;

Experience of leading and delivering large ITS commissions within the UK;

Ability to create and maintain good client relationships; and

Detail knowledge of current and emerging technologies and operational approaches within the ITS sector.
