Our Transportation team currently has a vacancy for a Traffic Engineer. AECOM are currently expanding our Local Roads Team in London following several major project wins across the UK and Europe.

The team is located in Croydon, one of the fastest growing areas in London, with excellent transport links to Central London. Our modern office has multi-disciplinary design and planning capability.

The team provides concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design as well as associated scheme assessment services on a wide range of traffic engineering projects and also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a highway interface. Our Local Roads team is involved in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients and also comprises traffic modelling and detailed design expertise

We are now looking to enhance and grow this team. This role will suit individuals who want to develop career in traffic engineering and share our enthusiasm to support our expanding workload and clients.

Job Responsibilities

Undertaking traffic engineering studies in detailed design, taking responsibility for the contribution of Graduates and Technicians as appropriate.

Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.

Liaise and work with contractors and carry out site supervision.

Manage sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget.

Assist in the preparation of fee proposals and contribute to major bids.

Sharing knowledge and supporting team managers in mentoring junior staff.

Familiar with relevant Health and Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team.

Minimum Requirements

Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing detailed design solutions to traffic engineering problems.

Knowledge and experience in some of the following aspects: cycling design, traffic calming, speed limit assessments, junction design, and footway and carriageway improvement design.

Good knowledge of traffic signage and road marking design.

Knowledge of local and national design standards

Demonstrate an awareness of project management and project planning.

Demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD

Proficient user of MS Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree or Master or equivalent qualification in an analytical subject such as Engineering, Mathematics or Geography
