Role

We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who is looking for technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects, to join our established Building Engineering Team in London.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role in developing Building Services design.

The role will be closely linked with the architectural and engineering design of a large variety of new and existing building developments, working in close collaboration with the most eminent architectural practices and developers in UK and abroad.

In terms of high-profile well known projects that Building Engineering London have been instrumental in working on include the following:

· 122 Leadenhall Street (The Cheesegrater).

· 52 lime Street (The Scalpel).

· The Shard.

· Qatar National Library, Doha.

· Television Centre, White City.

Projects will include the inception, calculation, modelling and design of mechanical engineering systems from concept to tender phase, construction and hand over. The position offers great opportunities for interfacing with other disciplines and inspecting the projects on site during construction and client handover.

Key responsibilities:

Design and sizing of ventilation systems and piped services.

Develop HVAC load calculations.

Analysis using software such as IES, TAS, Energy Plus, Design Builder.

Use of Revit BIM software.

Assisting with the production of drawings, reports and specifications.

Design management and client interface.

Support architectural competitions and masterplan projects.

Assisting with developing and encouraging sustainable building design on projects.

Keeping up to date with developments in the building services industry.

Direct Client and external team liaison on technical issues as well as general coordination.
Requirements and skills

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer with excellent design, technical, and software skills who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams, taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results.

You will be able to demonstrate solid experience in the field Mechanical Engineering Systems for building services.

You will be committed to your own professional development and looking for challenging work to develop your engineering skill.

Skills and Capabilities

Essential:

Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, ideally at Masters level.

Be a graduate member of an appropriate professional institution such as CIBSE or IMechE and working to achieving chartered status.

Knowledge of current regulations, such as Part L & Building Regulations and associated software tools.

Knowledge of sustainability assessment methodologies such as BREEAM or LEED.

Good understanding of dynamic thermal modelling and capable of using one of the widely used software (i.e. IES, TAS, Energy Plus, Design Builder).

Familiar with undertaking design of heating, chilled water and ventilation air distribution systems.

Ability to think outside your specialism and integrate multi-disciplinary
