Tendering Engineer

Schneider Electric has a great opportunity for the right person to join our team as a Tendering Engineer.

Mission:
Within the MV Equipment Centre, manage the tendering team to produce quotations for distribution transformers and secondary switchgear, meeting the expected service levels of customers and achieve and exceed quotation lead time and conversion rates.

Responsibilities:



Produce tenders as necessary according to department loading demands.
Review all enquiries and identify those which can be offered using the standard pricing tools.
Work in collaboration with the external salesforce to support and execute strategies to establish products and solutions during identification phase.
Review and approve tender price/costing estimates and submit for management approval in accordance with the tendering processes.
Ensure that formal risk analysis and mitigation is carried out on appropriate tenders and is submitted with approval requests.
Review key tenders prior to submission to customers to ensure high standards of quality.
Ensure efficient processing and handover of the MV orders within 5 days of receipt.
Review all enquiries to understand the required resource and priority, allocate to and manage tender engineers to ensure tenders are submitted in accordance with customer needs.
Working with external sales organization to promote and organize customer visits and presentations by self and tendering engineers pre and post tender in order to promote Primary MV products.
Ensure all orders received against a tender are properly verified to be in line with the quotation and all information is present prior to handover to contracts.
Be proactive in eliminating any contract-related issue that might lead to non-payment of invoices.
Ensure that all opportunities and quotes are correctly entered into the Schneider CRM tool and that all activities and intelligence is recorded and maintained in the system.

Knowledge/Experience
·Sound commercial knowledge of the customer base and their business drivers
·Sales and marketing techniques / methodology
·Understanding of competitor offers and up to date switchgear technology.
·Awareness of the company's manufacturing/purchasing strategy & manufacturing capability.
·Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions.
·Understanding of the function of other departments.
·Fully aware of Company’s policies and procedures.
·Knowledge of tendering procedures.
·Detailed product knowledge of complete range of products, applications and functionality to design appropriate solutions.
·Knowledge of production process/capabilities to allow input to production programme control.

Skills/Aptitudes
·Commercial negotiation skills.
·Commercial judgement – ability to estimate the potential value of an enquiry/tender, and the chance of success.
·Interpersonal skills with different cultures.
·Fully PC & Windows Excel/Word/PowerPoint literate.
·Verbal & written communication.
·Able to handle conflicts and is assertive.
·Organised and systematic approach to own work and that of others and able to prioritise work of department.
·Formal and informal meeting skills.
·Technical specifications are understood and relevant points identified.
·Bridge front office experience.

Qualifications
·Degree/HNC level in Electrical Engineering.
