Senior Consultant (Intelligent Transport Systems)


Dublin, Ireland

Our successful Technology Services group is growing and we have immediate vacancies for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Consultants in our Dublin, Dun Laoghaire offices. Our roles would suit proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals looking to advance their career in dynamic and forward thinking technology fields, applying the latest developments in technology and ICT to solve transport and mobility challenges. A keen desire to advance the application of technology in the transport domain will be key to being a success in this post. We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.

AECOM’s Technology services teams have established track records of successfully delivering innovative and influential ITS schemes to clients across the World. We are engaged on projects including connected and autonomous vehicles, public transport information, ticketing solutions, inter-urban traffic management schemes and Smart Cities. The teams also support other AECOM business lines where their projects include a technology or ITS need.

To support our clients network operations our technology solutions require the active application of ITS/Technology/ICT consultancy, advice or design, so we are interested in applicants bringing understanding of one or more of requirements capture, systems consulting & design, systems and data architecture development, standards development and application, communications technology adaptation, knowledge of cloud services and exploitation of data, cybersecurity and overall system resilience. We are looking to grow the technology team with individuals who have an enthusiasm for technology and are able to work in projects that deliver effective and innovative solutions for our clients.

The chosen candidate/s will be expected to (understand or have demonstrable experience):

Review current and emerging technologies with a view to adapting them to solve real world problems for clients;

Undertake problem analysis, preparation of solution options, feasibility and design development;

Have a good understanding of relevant standards and the standards required for development to support new technologies (e.g. CAV, next generation communications, service delivery, next generation ticketing and payment systems);

Define and produce technical report requirements and support the delivery of other key project deliverables;

Check that the quality of technical deliverables is in line with the client’s brief and AECOM’s quality procedures;

Engage with clients and manage stakeholders through meetings, telephone and through web services at various locations across the UK, Ireland and overseas;

Support the drafting of tender documents for clients and participate in tender evaluation; and

Have a good understanding of project and complex programme management including costing, programming, financial management and multi-disciplinary resource coordination

Minimum Requirements

The candidate should have:

A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Computing or in a related science or technical discipline.

Experience of working in technology related projects, providing an understanding of ICT, networking, telecommunications or similar that can be applied to transport.

Good technical and communication (verbal and writing) skills.

A commitment to Health and Safety in an office environment and on project sites.

A willingness to occasionally work away from home for short periods in the UK and Ireland, and further afield

Understanding of Consultancy, Transportation Technology and Network Operations will be an advantage but is not essential

Preferred Qualifications

Higher level degree Engineering, Computing or in a related science or technical discipline.

Have achieved, or are close to receiving, Professional Status with a relevant professional institute.
