Software Quality and Reliability Engineer

Role Purpose
Liaise with customer representatives for awarded programs and serve as a subject matter expert for all account teams regarding embedded software development for active driveline systems.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and install solutions by working with equipment builders and design system specifications, standards, and programming. Provide information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing development and service issues. Facilitate the software validation process and communicate to the customer as required. Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage and work processes, investigating problem areas, following the software development lifecycle. Collaborate with other specialists in development groups all working together on complex projects. Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met. Develop and direct software systems testing, programming and documentation. Responsible for software documentation and necessary CARB / OBD2 compliance documentation as required. Verify adherence to safety protocols such as AUTOSAR and ISO 26262. Assist in the understanding, quantifying and mitigation of software related risks. Work with Purchasing to develop, assess and liaise with the supply base and determine future partners, focusing on technical competency and price. Task applies to ECU, software development tools and any contracted third party providers. Use "San Gen Shugi" to facilitate resolution of software related issues during internal or customer bench and HIL testing or at the vehicle level, debugging. Coordinate quality improvements with assembly, and provide technical guidance as necessary. Analyze Not Right First Time issues in the assembly process and develop countermeasures to correct discrepant levels. Assist with Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) , Control Plans)

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Requires Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Digital Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or foreign educational equivalent
Candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience in the position offered, or in a similar position, such as Test Development Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer. Experience must include facilitation of the software validation process within the manufacturing industry, using communication protocols including UART and OBD.
Travel: 20% of time, includes international
