Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics

Summary: You will work within the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) Section of ScHARR, undertaking health economics and cost-effectiveness analysis research on a range of applied policy and methodological research, mainly funded through the Department of Health’s Policy Research Unit in Economic Evaluation of Health Care Interventions .You will lead and support health economic projects within EEPRU and HEDS and will be actively encouraged to develop your own independent methodological interests/ programme of research. We are seeking candidates with a broad set of skills and experience. Specific requirements will be determined by the needs of the work programmes and may include: cost-effectiveness analyses (e.g. Markov and discrete event simulations), literature reviews/appraisal, statistical and policy analysis. You will work with colleagues to scope research questions, design evaluations, develop methodological work, undertake cost-effectiveness analyses and disseminate findings in peer-reviewed journals.

You will contribute to post-graduate level teaching and supervision including developing and delivering materials. You should have experience of leading research projects in health economics including designing and developing evaluations within health care. A track of record of grant capture, independence and project/programme management are essential, as is a substantial publication record in peer reviewed journals and conference presentation. You should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in a numerate subject (e.g. mathematics, operational research, statistics, economics) and a PhD in a related subject. This post is full-time and for a fixed-term period of three years.
